Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

ART

What Is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a unique approach to psychotherapy. In ART, the therapist asks questions and invites the client to replace negative images related to a specific event or general issue with positive ones. The goal is to remember the facts and lose the feelings. This happens quickly, most often within one session to three sessions. Once the negative images have been replaced by positive ones, the triggers will be gone. Nightmares and repeated intrusive thoughts generally disappear.

Some of the growing body of research that shows ART can do this may be found by clicking the following link: https://acceleratedresolutiontherapy.com/evidence-based/ ART is recognized as evidenced-based by the Society of Clinical Psychology, Division 12 of the American Psychological Association (APA).

ART is also unique in that it combines the enormous power of eye movements to allow voluntary changes in the client’s mind with well-established therapies like Gestalt, Psychodynamic Therapy and Guided Imagery. Within the ART protocol, the eye movements, along with other ART enhancements, make these therapies work much faster and more effectively than traditional talk therapy.

With these therapies, combined with ART’s eye movements and other ART enhancements, many mental health problems other than Post Traumatic Stress can also be resolved quickly, such as OCD, Generalized Anxiety and Generalized Depressive Disorders.

Eye movements are calming and therapeutic as shown in evidenced-based research. They produce theta waves in the brain connected to creativity, intuition, daydreaming. These brain waves are often present during meditative states.

When clients replace negative images with positive ones, they do not need to share details with the therapist. The ART is procedural yet allows creativity in exploring and resolving thoughts, feelings, and memories. The client is really in control of the process, while the ART Therapist is a helpful guide.

As a Master-certified ART therapist, I incorporate ART to help clients expand their self-awareness and body awareness. This can help them tune into vital information their emotions and sensations offer. We can explore the past, present, and future and allow the body to inform decision making. We also use interesting visualizations such as metaphor, portrayals, and third-person viewing to help clients find clarity about themselves and their situations.

The following issues can be quickly and effectively treated by ART:

Anxiety Depression Phobias Panic Attacks Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) Addictions/ Substance Abuse Performance Anxiety Family Issues Victimization/Poor Self Image Victimization/Sexual Abuse Relationship Issues/Infidelity Codependency Grief Job-Related Stress Pain Management Memory Enhancement
